The capacities of the HPS-group are solidly rooted on four foundations:
- Acknowledged experts for space strategy, sales, project management, project controlling, finance, system engineering, development- realization processes, a broad range of engineering disciplines, material science, manufacturing and integration, quality control.
- Highly modern offices and extreme computing capacities (for example NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, VA One, GRASP, INVENTOR etc).
- Company-owned infrastructure for manufacturing and integration, including class 1,000 cleanrooms.
- A large network of European partner companies for special developments, production of all kinds of parts, material- and subsystem-tests, as well as to building up international project consortia.
In Germany, at the Munich Headquarters, HPS concentrates on subsystems, engineering, management, sales and last not least on the management of the whole group´s business.
In Portugal, at HPS Lda Porto, the company has a crew of hand-selected engineers and technicians developing and producing high-end MLI and composite-structures as well as realizing assembly tasks; those capacities have been built up on the basis of more than a century of Portugese leadership in the textile industry and on extraordinary high standards of universitary education for engineers in that country. In addition, HPS Portugal owns and operates state of the art cleanrooms for the production of MLI (Multilayer Insulations) for commercial, and scientific satellites as well as for highly sensible instruments on other spacecrafts. In Portugal, HPS also can count on a network of partner enterprises to realize cost efficient manufacturing and surface treatment jobs in the outskirts of Porto.
Thanks to extraordinary high quality standards the HPS subsidiary in Portugal has become within just fours years a „preferred supplier“ of the Italian satellite manufacturer Thales Alenia Space. HPS invests heavily in its Portugese subsidiary and in its strongly growing number of staff for the benefit of cost effective manufacturing of MLI and composite parts – growth which has also earned significant support of Portugese, German, and European politics.
In 2016, the Romanian subsidiary „High Performance Structures Inovatie si Dezvoltare S.R.L. (HPS – RO)“ opened its gates as the third member of the HPS-Group. HPS-RO will cover the need for additional capacities of the group in the fields of engineering, development, secondary and tertiary structures, as well as MGSE (mechanical ground support equipment). Suppliers and partners in Romania are highly renowned companies, institutes, and universities specialized on mechanical precision manufacturing, welding, material- and structure characterization, process verification and testing. Final assembly will be carried out by HPS in Bucharest.
