Manpack Ground Antennas
HPS is developing and producing deployable, portable ground reflector antennas for more than 10 years. Our main product is KEAN, a 1.2 m diameter manpack antenna tailored for use in rugged environment and available for X-band and Ku-band applications. Further models for K-/Ka-band are under development.
The KEAN communication system consists of:
- Reflector (20 foldable CFRP blades)
- RF feed (baseline: Ku-band)
- Tripod (for ground installation)
- Backpack (for personal transport)
- Electronics (tailored to customer standards)
- Batteries (provided as option)
The key performance data of the Ku-band version can be found below. We are ready to tailor KEAN to your specific needs in terms on reflector diameter, frequency band or data rate. Larger versions, e.g. with reflector diameters 2.4 m or 3.6 m and therefore higher gain and/or data rate, are adequate for installation on dedicated carrier vehicles like trucks or tanks. Once the carrier vehicle is in place, the antenna reflector quickly unfolds, while in stowed configuration the used volume on the carrier is less than 1–2 m³.
