| HPS being awarded the MLI provision for eROSITA | |
| HPS Germany has recently been awarded the hardware development and manufacturing of the eROSITA MLI (multilayer insulation). |
HPS is going to design, produce and provide the MLI (Multi-Layer Insulation) for the German X-ray telescope eROSITA (extended ROentgen Survey with an Imaging Telescope Array) being the primary instrument on the Russian "Spectrum-Roentgen-Gamma" (SRG) satellite.The telescope is made by Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik and its main purpose is to detect systematically all obscured accreting Black Holes in nearby galaxies and many (> 170000) new, distant active galactic nuclei. Further scientific goals and detailed information can be found on the eROSITA homepage. The consortium for this activity will consist of HPS Germany, HPS Portugal and NTP.
Invent (parent company of HPS) is going to produce the hexagonal CFRP structure for the telescope.
